Tieguanyin — “Iron Goddess of Mercy” — is arguably China’s most famous oolong, prized for its orchid fragrance and complex roasted character. Chasense’s take is widely considered their most sophisticated tea interpretation, and it wears that reputation with ease.
It opens unexpectedly: lemon brightness, magnolia creaminess, tonka bean warmth, and the gentle tingle of pink peppercorn. Not what you’d expect from a tea fragrance, and all the better for it. The heart is where Tieguanyin takes the stage — that unmistakable roasted oolong, floral yet mineral, woven with osmanthus and honeysuckle for a golden, nectar-like depth. The base is vetiver alone: clean, earthy, and purposeful, like the single brushstroke that completes a calligraphy scroll. This has been described as the “most serious tea profile” in the Chasense collection.
