The Scent
Guidance opens as a contradiction that shouldn’t work but does: crisp pear, sacred frankincense, and toasted hazelnut in perfect equilibrium. It’s not fruity, not smoky, not nutty — it’s something entirely new, a creamy-woody accord that feels like the olfactory equivalent of brushed cashmere. Critics called it “the next Baccarat Rouge 540.” That’s reductive. Guidance is warmer, more maternal, less synthetic.
The heart blooms into a powdery bouquet of saffron, rose, jasmine sambac, and osmanthus — never loud, always controlled. The base settles into cistus, sandalwood, akigalawood, and vanilla, leaving a trail that reads as a single sustained chord rather than a sequence of events. The Collection
From Amouage’s Guidance Collection, launched in 2023 under creative director Renaud Salmon. Perfumer Quentin Bisch created Guidance as an answer to the minimalist luxury movement — a maximalist statement delivered with quiet precision. Eau de Parfum at 25% oil concentration. Winner of three major awards in 2024, including the French Fragrance Foundation Award.

Performance
8–12 hours on skin with strong projection for the first 6–7 hours. Excellent sillage — this is not an intimate scent. Batch variation exists: new bottles may need 2–4 weeks after the first spray to reach full maturity as the juice oxidises. Once matured, performance is exceptional.
