Why a perfume house called Butterfly
Because a butterfly never settles on just any flower; it finds the one with the finest nectar. Founder and perfumer Suchin “Chin” Kaew-Udon grew up following his nose through Thai rice fields and gardens, detoured through civil engineering and fashion design, and came back to the question that never left him: what if you could bottle the Thailand you actually smell, not the one on the postcard?
Every composition begins in nam ob nam prung, Thailand’s centuries-old art of scenting, then is rebuilt with a perfumer’s precision from ingredients you cannot fake: agarwood and benzoin, galangal and kaffir lime, mango, jasmine garlands, market herbs. Instead of a thin alcohol spray the house works in a coconut-oil base that melts into skin and stays for hours. Chin works directly with Thai farmers, even buying their leftover pomelo peel, so every bottle quietly supports the countryside it smells of.
