The Scent
Oyedo is built around yuzu — the most uplifting citrus you’ll ever smell, more yellow than lemon, free of sour tang. The opening divides audiences: some catch an intensely sweet, candy-like orange burst; others find it instantly soapy and clean. Within ten minutes, the candy recedes and the scent settles into soft, soapy yuzu — the kind of clean citrus that clings to expensive French soap. A faint herbal thread of thyme and a whisper of tart raspberry add texture without stealing the spotlight. What you smell at minute twenty is what you’ll carry for the next few hours: ordered, refined, luminous, distinctly Japanese in its restraint.
The Collection
One of Diptyque’s earliest pillar fragrances, launched in 2000 and created by Japanese perfumer Akiko Kamei. Named for the ancient imperial city of Oyedo (Edo, now Tokyo). The raspberry note was what Diptyque calls a “happy olfactory accident.” It has remained in continuous production for over two decades.

Who It’s For
Sunny weekend mornings, crisp white linen, cycling through a citrus grove. Oyedo is for warm-weather minimalists who want to smell clean without smelling like perfume. The opening’s candy sweetness can be polarizing — if you want photorealistic citrus peel, this isn’t it. But if you appreciate the soapy, radiant yuzu that follows, you’ll find few scents more cheerful. It’s unisex, optimistic, and made for hot summer days when anything heavier would suffocate.
Performance
3-5 hours on skin — typical for a citrus EDT. Moderate projection for the first hour, then a close skin scent. Budget for reapplication or embrace it as a splash-and-go companion.
Authenticity
Factory-sealed in the iconic oval Diptyque bottle. 100% authentic.
