The Scent
Do Son is an olfactory postcard from Haiphong, Vietnam — where co-founder Yves Coueslant spent childhood afternoons surrounded by his mother’s favourite tuberose. The opening surprises with green sharpness, a narcissus-like freshness that cuts through before the floral tide arrives. Then the tuberose blooms: creamy, heady, camphorous, teetering between intoxicating and overwhelming. Orange blossom and jasmine fill the gaps with honeyed intensity, while pink pepper adds a dry, sparkling lift. The base softens into benzoin’s resinous warmth and clean white musk. This is not a subtle floral — it’s a bouquet thrown at you with joy.
The Collection
Originally launched as an EDT in 2005, the richer EDP arrived in 2013 under Fabrice Pellegrin. This 2024 Holiday Limited Edition features a striking cinnabar red lacquer bottle — a tribute to tuberose and Vietnamese lacquer craft. Important: the juice is identical to the standard Do Son EDP. You’re buying the art-object bottle.

Who It’s For
The unapologetic floral lover. You don’t do “sheer” or “transparent” — you want the flower in high definition. Do Son is spring and summer incarnate, perfect for garden parties, weddings, and warm evenings. Tuberose contains indole, a compound that at high concentrations can read as mothball or decay to sensitive noses; Do Son’s tuberose is well-behaved, but if you’re indole-averse, sample first. The red lacquer bottle is a collector’s piece — available only while stocks last.
Performance
Excellent — 7-9 hours on skin, even longer on clothing. Strong projection for the first several hours. You only need the tiniest spritz.
