The Scent

This is not the vanilla you know. Freesia and a faint boozy plum open cool — almost metallic, like the first breath after stepping into winter air. Cashmeran and sheer musk form the heart, but they don’t warm things up so much as hover. Then Madagascar vanilla arrives — not as sweetness but as texture, all dry pod and husk, stripped of everything gourmand. Ebony and ambroxan close it out with a clean, meditative hum. It’s vanilla as abstraction, not dessert.

The Collection + Performance

From Byredo’s Night Veils collection — Jérôme Epinette wove freesia, plum, cashmeran, musk, Madagascar vanilla, ebony, ambroxan, and cistus into this 50ml extrait. Discontinued in 2025 when the collection was reformulated — this is the original old-edition composition.
