Green tea
The freshest family: misty, leafy, a little sweet. Start with Chasense Spring Tea, the award-winning Longjing by Florian Gallo that put the house on the map. Jasmine Green Tea is the most photorealistic jasmine tea we know. Betmay Melon Longjing ($59) adds honeydew to the leaf; Green Apple Spring Tea is its tart cousin. Chasense Nature Green Tea and Biluochun round out the family.
Matcha
Bitter, creamy, meditative. Chasense Matcha is the tea-ceremony version, another award winner; Betmay Matcha Latte is the café version with silky milk and a whisper of coffee, and at $59 the easiest way into tea perfume.
Oolong
Peachy, toasty, the most “perfume-like” of the teas. Chasense Comforting Oolong ($74) is the highest-rated Chasense we carry and our usual first recommendation. Tieguanyin is the roasted, orchid-rich serious one; Betmay Tie Guan Yin the deep-roasted Fujian teahouse at $59; Osmanthus Oolong adds apricot-sweet autumn blossom. Mith Another Tea is a five-note jasmine oolong, pure and serene.
Black tea, Thai tea and milk tea
Warmer, sweeter, longer-lasting. Mith Bangkok One Fine Day: Thai Tea is the iced Thai tea everyone asks about, spiced black tea over condensed-milk sweetness, from $47. Chasense Chinese Milk Tea is brown-sugar bubble tea, bottled. Confidence Black Tea bursts with lychee and caramel; Russian Caravan is smoky and leathery; Indian Darjeeling clean and floral. Memo Winter Palace brings smoky red tea and maté in a Parisian frame.
Roasted and white tea
J-Scent Roasted Green Tea is a hojicha latte from Tokyo: toasty, nutty, cosy. Chasense Wintersweet White Tea and the 2026 Silver Needle are the delicate end of the spectrum, snow-fresh and honeyed.
Three teas in one, and tea with other things
To Summer Triple Tea 三重茶 layers green, roasted black and Wuyi oolong into a single Beijing teahouse. Van Cleef & Arpels Thé Amara is a tea garden at dawn with mint and rose. Chasense Find Myself and Broken Silver take tea into pu-erh territory: earthy, figgy, unlike anything in Western perfumery.

Questions
What does a tea perfume smell like?
It depends on the tea. Green-tea scents are fresh, leafy and slightly sweet; oolongs are peachy and toasty; black and milk teas are warm, malty and sweet; matcha is bittersweet and creamy. The best ones smell like the brewed cup rather than a generic “fresh” accord.
Which tea perfume should a beginner buy?
Chasense Comforting Oolong ($74) if you like warm scents, Chasense Spring Tea if you prefer fresh ones, Betmay Matcha Latte ($59) if you want a café gourmand. All three are available as 2 ml samples.
Do tea perfumes last?
Green teas are naturally light and sit close to the skin after the first hour; black, milk and roasted teas (Thai Tea, Chinese Milk Tea, Roasted Green Tea, Tieguanyin) last a full working day for most wearers.
Is Thai Tea perfume the same as Thai tea?
Mith Bangkok’s One Fine Day: Thai Tea smells like the iced drink: spiced black tea with condensed-milk creaminess. Mith’s original Thai Tea is drier and more spice-forward. Both are in stock and both come as decants.
Where do these tea perfumes come from, and are they authentic?
Chasense, Betmay and To Summer are Chinese niche houses, Mith is Thai, J-Scent Japanese. Every bottle is bought by us from the house or its authorised channels, kept sealed and shipped from Sydney within two business days.
