Aged. Milky-sweet. Pu-erh like you’ve never smelled before.
Broken Silver — Sui Yin Zi — is a rare fermented pu-erh tea, pressed into nuggets that gleam like dark metal. When brewed, it releases a scent that’s simultaneously earthy and sweet, with an almost glutinous rice warmth. It’s one of the most unique teas in the world, and Chasense built a fragrance around it that defies easy description.
The opening is green and faintly smoky, with a curious ink-like flatness that reviewers have called “galbanum-like.” Then it softens — dramatically — into something unexpectedly creamy and sweet, as if the tea gods decided incense and milk rice belonged together. Pu-erh and deep oolong form the heart, wrapped in the sticky, comforting note of glutinous rice. Guaiac wood, incense, and musk carry the base, adding a meditative, almost temple-like quality. This is a tea-and-rice fragrance, a concept so novel it barely has a reference point in Western perfumery.
For the true niche explorer. Someone who already owns the classics and wants something they genuinely haven’t smelled before. Quiet contemplation, rainy afternoons, or simply impressing that one fragrance-nerd friend.
