The Scent
Orphéon opens with a crisp, gin-like juniper berry — the olfactory equivalent of swinging open the door to a 1960s Parisian jazz club. Jasmine blooms quickly in the heart, silky and warm, but never tipping into indolic excess. The drydown is where the magic happens: cedarwood and tonka bean wrap everything in a creamy, slightly soapy woodiness, with a chalky-powder texture that evokes vintage cosmetics and worn velvet banquettes. It hums close to the skin like a half-remembered melody.
The Collection
From the Diptyque Eau de Parfum collection. Created in 2021 by the late Olivier Pescheux — the nose behind Fleur de Peau, Eau Capitale, and some of Diptyque’s most iconic modern compositions. Orphéon is an olfactory portrait of the founders’ favourite jazz bar on the Boulevard Saint-Germain. A solid perfume version also exists; a 2026 EDT flanker is a different composition entirely.

Who It’s For
The nostalgic sophisticate. You’re the person nursing a cocktail alone at the bar and looking like the most interesting person in the room. Orphéon isn’t for those who want to be noticed from across the room — it’s for those who want to be discovered up close. The powder accord is central to the composition; if vintage cosmetics read as “grandmotherly” to you, steer elsewhere. If they read as timeless, you’ve found your signature.
Performance
Mixed reports — many enjoy 6-8 hours of gentle presence; others find it fades to a skin scent within 3-4. It wears close and polite. Two to three sprays suffice — overspraying won’t make it shout, it’ll just waste juice. Best in cool to moderate weather; can feel heavy in peak summer humidity.
Authenticity
Factory-sealed in the iconic oval Diptyque bottle. 100% authentic.
