Dark chocolate, spiced rose, and boozy rum. The cult-favorite gourmand, reborn.
The Scent
Fève Gourmande opens with a warm, spiced embrace — clove and black pepper that tingle rather than bite, like the first sip of mulled wine on a December evening. The cocoa accord arrives quickly, but it’s not the sweet milk chocolate of childhood. This is dark, bitter-edged cacao, shavings from a high-percentage bar, dusted over a velvety rose that keeps things from tipping into dessert territory.
The heart deepens with smoked tea and a drizzle of honey, adding an almost savory dimension that makes you lean in closer. Then the rum enters — boozy and warm, not sharp, like the afterglow of a fine spirit rather than the burn. Patchouli anchors the base with an earthy, mysterious depth. The overall effect is surrealist and seductive: Guerlain themselves describe it as “a Salvador Dalí painting in scent.” It’s cozy without being safe, indulgent without being juvenile.
The Collection
Part of L’Art & La Matière, Guerlain’s ultra-luxury collection where each fragrance is built around a single exceptional raw material pushed to its artistic limit. Launched in 2023 by Delphine Jelk, Fève Gourmande is the spiritual successor to the cult-favorite Gourmand Coquin — reworked for the modern L’Art & La Matière lineup. The name translates roughly to “gourmand bean,” a nod to the cacao at its heart.

Who It’s For
You love gourmands but have outgrown the candy-sweet vanillas of your early fragrance journey. You want something that reads as indulgence, not dessert — the difference between a Michelin-starred chocolate tart and a candy bar. You wear fragrance for yourself first, and Fève Gourmande rewards close wearers with its evolving spiced-cacao-rum journey. Cold-weather romantics, cozy-evening types, anyone who wants to smell edible without smelling like a bakery.
Fair warning: if you don’t like sweet fragrances, this isn’t going to convert you. It’s unapologetically gourmand. And at L’Art & La Matière pricing, it’s a commitment — not a blind-buy for the faint of heart.
Performance
7–9 hours on skin with moderate-to-strong projection in the first 3 hours. The spiced opening and cacao heart are the most present phase; the drydown is a softer rum-patchouli-vanilla whisper. Performs best in cool to cold weather — summer heat can make the sweetness overwhelming.
