The Scent

Habit Rouge Spirit opens with iris — not the cool, rooty iris of niche minimalism, but a powdery, sophisticated iris that feels like a silk pocket square. Almost immediately, nutmeg enters: warm, aromatic, slightly woody, the kind of spice that reads as refinement rather than kitchen. This is the heart of the fragrance, and it beats slowly.

Then the barrels speak. The base is where the Hennessy collaboration becomes undeniable — vanilla absolute aged in oak, layered over additional vanilla, creating a boozy, woody, almost cognac-like warmth that has no right to be this smooth. There’s a leather undertone that emerges after an hour, subtle and expensive, like the interior of a vintage Bentley. This isn’t the original 1965 Habit Rouge — that was a sparkling citrus-oriental. Spirit is its grandson: wiser, deeper, and unapologetically luxurious. Delphine Jelk didn’t just update a classic. She gave it a heritage.

The Collection

Habit Rouge Limited Edition, 2025. Created by Delphine Jelk in collaboration with Maison Hennessy to celebrate Habit Rouge’s 60th anniversary. The fragrance was assembled and aged “in the spirit of cognac” in authentic Hennessy oak barrels — a first in perfumery. Limited edition — one production run only. Once sold out, it will not return.
