The Scent
Néroli Amara opens with a bright, juicy burst of Italian lemon, mandarin and zesty bergamot, the kind that makes you think of a terrace above the sea. Black pepper and cypress then add a crisp, slightly bitter green edge. As it settles, a warm, sunlit orange blossom takes over and dries down soft, floral and gently rounded. It’s fresher than a classic floral and richer than a cologne.
The Collection
Part of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Collection Extraordinaire, created in 2018 by perfumer Quentin Bisch as an Eau de Parfum. The name says it all: “amara” means “bitter” in Italian, after the bitter-orange tree that gives us neroli and orange blossom. The house tells it as a fable of a princess and her favourite flower, the Amara blossom.
